People Are Watching You!

Many say “people are watching you” as a cautionary statement.

People are watching you so be careful of the photos you post. People are watching you so be careful of what you wear. People are watching you so be careful of the things that you say and the people that you befriend.

But what about the positive side of things? Why can’t we use it as a motivational statement?

People are watching you so keep telling your stories. People are watching you so keep posting those videos. People are watching you so update your LinkedIn and create that website.

Last week I received words of affirmation from friends and acquaintances about my content. Even though I see the view counts and the likes it’s different to have someone take the time to share their observation of your work directly with you.

I even had a couple of opportunities crop up because they viewed my content. Of course, some of these opportunities are unpaid, some will require in-kind donations of my time but with the right connection, the right strategy, and the right vision, it’s an opportunity that can pay off many times over in the long run.

People are watching is actually quite a powerful thing. Taking the time to consume someone’s work is an act of validation, and that should not be taken lightly. I personally have been using it as my own motivation to keep doing what I’m doing, regardless of the audience size I currently have. It’s even influenced me to be more proactive about sharing positive feedback about content that inspires me!

So what are you currently working on that you think people are not watching? Keep working and sharing because you might be pleasantly surprised.
